What is it like working as an Architect (but not Landscape or Naval)?

June 2016
Exciting.
Architect (but not Landscape or Naval):

Cons: Contractors not doing what they are supposed to.
November 2015
Work life balance does not exist.
Architect (but not Landscape or Naval):
If you can do something other than architecture, do it. The profession is not very accommodating to having a family. Finding a firm that will support that goal is challenging.
November 2014
For love not money.
Architect (but not Landscape or Naval):
Architecture is a good profession if you want to make some kind of difference in the built environment, but don't expect to get rich (or even moderately wealthy) doing it. Also don't expect a ton of job security. It is the kind of profession you stay in because you love the work, not the money. That said, some firms are a lot better than others, so research potential employers carefully in advance.
November 2014
Architect (but not Landscape or Naval):
Almost all architects are late bloomers except for a small few.
