Be A Great Generalist.
Development Officer:
I have found that having a little bit of knowledge on a wide range of areas within the fundraising arena has allowed me to excel, and set me up for advancement. I am able to step in and support my colleagues within their portfolios if required. As a result I increase my exposure and knowledge of these areas at the same time. Areas include: direct marketing (direct mail, digital, telemarketing) stewardship, planned/estate giving, employee giving, leadership giving and solicitation, moves management event planning, internal communication.
