Do some self education on other software out there and not just for CAD work, there are database programs like ProjectWise and D2 that are used, Other CAD programs, like Microstation, solidworks, Bentley substation and many more. I'm not saying learn them all before you find your first position just be familiar with them and their base abilities.

Don't get caught up in office politics no matter how vested you are to the subject, because you never know how what you say can be interpreted and miss represented to others. Own your given tasks, make sure you give all the attention you can to the task at hand. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if your sure about the answer. There will be mistakes, make sure you learn from them.
