Learn to read your locates and assess your site. You should only trust yourself for an accurate assessment, don't take your Foreman or supervisor's word for it.
The safety of the guys on the ground is paramount to anything else. Be aware of your surroundings, always do a circle check if your machine has been sitting a while as you never know what's been placed around you ( people or tools)
Keep your equipment clean and greased. This not only keeps the boss happy, but it's your personal office, treat it as such.
Always check the operation of all controls before using the machine in close proximity to people, or for the purpose of lifting. It's always best to discover any issues before there is a danger to yourself or others.
Be smooth, accurate, and confident.
