Knowing that I’m held accountable for my behavior and actions, as much as I hold others accountable - the level of trust, acceptance, and mutual respect I’ve found in Oakland is so much more than I thought possible. After 15 years, I still wake up everyday grateful for the scope of opportunities for growth - personal, spiritual, intellectual, and creatively. The inspiration levels are sky high.
Cons: The poor education available to the public. The brutal, uncalled for, and systemic police brutality and murders of black, brown, and indigenous peoples.
