Technical Designer, Apparel Reviews

What is it like working as a Technical Designer, Apparel?

May 2015
Technical Designer, Apparel:
Pros: Not stressful; great people; small, family-owned company.
Cons: Sitting at a desk for so long.
March 2015
Whack a mole.
Technical Designer, Apparel:
Pros: Working for a small company has been rewarding in that it has provided me with an extensive amount of experience in my field. I have a developed a vast skill set to build an impressive resume with just 4 years experience with one company.
Cons: The job is very demanding and stressful. I fill MANY different roles due to company size. Disorganization takes a toll. I constantly have multiple urgent priorities and am rarely able to give proper attention to any. As a competent and reliable worker I am often asked to take on tasks that should not be expected of me, but due to blurry job descriptions they somehow make their way onto my plate. I feel pulled in a million directions all day every day. I spend most of my time spinning trying to deal with whatever emergency is coming through the door at any give time and not focusing on what I am expected to be accomplishing.
February 2015
Low start pay and hard to increase salary.
Technical Designer, Apparel:
Not a glamorous job, obviously. It is very technical. Size, fit, construction analysis and product developement. Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
January 2015
Very demanding.
Technical Designer, Apparel:
Ability to multi-task and have great communication and written skills.
