Average Hourly Rate for Ouachita Parish School Board Employees

Pros: I love seeing the difference I can make in the students' learning experience. The hope and relief that fills their eyes when they realize that someone, an adult, can understand them and communicate to them what they don't yet understand in English. I am also glad to aid teachers in the daunting task of teaching non-English-speaking students.

Cons: I am the only Interpreter they have hired so far so I am learning the ropes with little to no guidance. I do not like being alone in this venture. I believe there should be a board for foreign language accommodations to cover topics like academic evaluations and special resources for incoming ESL students.
