Pros: Every day is something new. I have the opportunity to work on my personal skills. There are still a few perks, including some flexibility.
Cons: Higher positions are filled based on who you know, not how well you will do your job. Pay is often based on who you know and/or how long you've been here. Progress and modernization is slow and difficult.

We don't get pay raises. There's not much room to move up. Insurance is OK, doesn't pay for some critical items. Management is average.
I wouldn't recommend working for the county if you ever want to make any money or move up.
