Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer:
Pros: Being a CMM programmer gives me leverage from being a design engineer alone. It is a position that helps me understand and put my designs into accurate and reliable manufacturability. Although the position is critical and demands utmost attention to details, it gives me so much flexibility especially when there are right tools and workflows to use/follow.
Cons: If you get to engage in various designs to program with and you get a hang of what you are doing, sometimes it is undeniably routinary. You can even compare it simpler than doing CNC/NC programming.
