May 2022
Lots of room for improvement, but overall not bad.
Lead UX Designer in Tampa:
Pros: As an independent contractor, I love the flexibility and high hourly rate. KPMG has resources to work with, and as long as you show up proactively and do your job, you'll be fine. KPMG knows good design when they see it, and they appreciate it. My opinion as a designer is respected, which is better than many companies in tech who haven't got the memo that design drives successful business.
Cons: Still not a lot of women representing in executive leadership roles that I've interacted with. KPMG may be making attempts at inclusivity, but what matters more is how people are treated when invited to the table. Since the company is so large, it's really a reflection of human culture more than anything, and we still have a long way to go there. If you're a woman or POC, find your allies with less bias and stay connected. You'll be happier.
April 2022
