Patent Attorney Reviews

What is it like working as a Patent Attorney?

October 2020
Great environment.
Patent Attorney in Flower Mound:
Pros: Everyone is ready and willing to help you succeed.
Cons: Traffic to and from work can be annoying
June 2020
Feel very underappreciated and overlooked.
Patent Attorney in Hampton:
Pros: I work a lot of different types of IP/technology related issues, including patent prosecution, copyright/trademark, patent licensing and other agreements, etc.
Cons: Feel like I am overlooked, I know I do an excellent job but I find that others in my office are selected for recognition, awards, and promotions over me. There really isn't any career development, it is very "do your job" and that's it. I worry that I am being overlooked for promotion opportunities, etc.
November 2019
Patent Attorney in South Bend:
Pros: Cost of living
Cons: Indiana is a backwards state
June 2016
Patent Attorney:
Work for the Patent Office for experience before going into corporate or firm practice. Get working experience, not merely a degree.
December 2015
Work Experience.
Patent Attorney:
Pros: Flexibility, vacation time, work-life balance.
Cons: No health insurance and other benefits.
August 2015
Flexible Hours while foregoing biglaw pay.
Patent Attorney:
Pros: I have flexible hours and I'm able to telecommute up to 50% of the time.
Cons: There's not much difference in the effectiveness of an exceptional attorney vs a mediocre attorney in patent prosecution.
