June 2016
High expectations, low pay.
Purchasing Supervisor:
Pros: Flexible on arrival/ departure times, little micromanagement most of the time. Rarely pressured by management to work more than 40 hours per week.
Cons: Absurd expectations from those at the EVP and C Suite level. They'll give you a hammer and a handful of rusty nails and expect you to produce a 5 star hotel. No forward thinking initiatives in any department that I've been able to ascertain. Closed door policies and "because I said so" mentality. Utterly reactive (never proactive) in their business philosophy. So consumed with bottom line that corners are constantly cut to save costs, often at the expense of operational efficiency.
