DaVita Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at DaVita Inc.?

Davita Culture.
Administrative Assistant:
Pros: It's a village first and a business second. Lot's of opportunities for growth.
Cons: Low merit increases.
Cheap Company Always Looking To Cut Corners On Budget.
Certified Dialysis Technician:
Pros: Honestly in the year plus I have been with this company I don't have much good to say.
Cons: The company cuts a lot of corners to save money on their budget. My clinic has several things wrong with it. The air-conditioning in the break room has been broken for a few weeks leaving it a sauna for what little time we have for breaks. The FA is never there. The company gives you a "victory bonus" of only a few hundred dollars when it used to be over one thousand and you get taxed sixty percent on it. They fail to give the annual raises on time and its only a slim 3% of our current hourly pay. I can go on but I don't want to get upset.
Exciting At The Beginning.
Renal Dietitian:
Pros: Some opportunities that are presenting most currently.
Cons: The way some managers lead and the poor recognition from upper management until is a bit too late.
Long Hours.
Registered Nurse (RN):
Pros: Independence, interesting, challenging at times.
Cons: Long hours, under staffed and no incentive or bonus for overtime. 16-20 hr days with short staffing I think deserve critical staffing bonus.
Direct Service With Clinical Skills Needed.
Social Worker:
Pros: I love the variety of the work I do, the clientele vary in their range of need from me, and the data required from regulations validates the contribution of social work services. I also find it helpful to be connected to other social workers in other clinics, I can always find someone who knows how to handle a specific situation. I also like being useful for the patients as well as the staff.
Cons: I need to be earning more money, I hope I won't have to leave the job to be able to do that. I also need a better retirement plan. DaVita is in the news often for being a Fortune 500 company, and our CEO earns so very much dollars, but for the rest of us workers, it is painful to see the way raises are not given at intervals that they should, the management principles are not often carried out even though they are sound practices.
A Great Company In Print, Little Recourse For Employees.
Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN):
Pros: My position is unconventional in that it is Acute Care, NOT a clinic setting. I enjoy finally having a day job (primarily) and getting to work closely with ICU patients again when doing mobile treatments. I also like not being "trapped" in the same area for the entire shift most days.
Cons: My supervisor is a great micro-manager, but horrible leader. The company doesn't recognize problems in local areas until a mass-exodus of employees, or other another disaster. The employee has no voice, or ability to make change, or improve upon the way things have been done for eons, leaving anyone with higher standards very unsatisfied. This company doesn't value experience, they want trained monkeys.
