Nordstrom, Inc. Reviews
What is it like working at Nordstrom, Inc.?
Great Company Culture.
Retail Department Manager in Salt Lake City:
Pros: I love that Nordstrom prides itself on inclusion and belonging. I also love that every employee is encouraged to use their best judgement. There are some great opportunities to grow versus other retailers.
Cons: Compensation can be lacking and everyone is spread thin. I think this is an issue for retail in general.
It was one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had I love helping and solving anything that comes my way.
Customer Service Manager in Fort Worth:
Pros: WE are free to help and make the customer happy at any expense
Cons: Due to Covid my store close down
Data Analyst in Seattle:
Contextualizing I'm a white cis woman so acknowledging I can't speak to the experiences of marginalized and systematically oppressed people working here.
At corporate, the relatively calm work life balance keeps a lot of people around. The people who work here are nice enough and always willing to help. It's clear the C-Suite cares a lot about the company and the people who work there. Your experience can and will vary greatly depending on the team you're on and the chain of managers you have.
The pay can be decent but do your research. Health care is is also above average but still not great especially if you go for the HSA plans. It's a big enough company where you can learn new skills and parts of the business well enough to transition to a new career path or switch teams. If you're lucky, your organization will have a clear career progression ladder for your role and supportive managers will give you as much exposure as you have bandwidth.
The company pivoted to remote work with COVID and it's unclear if, how or when we'll transition back to working in office.
Yearly salary raises tend to be a joke and are more matching with the rise of inflation than anything. The promotions system outside of the technology organization is absolutely ridiculous. For much of the business, you have to apply to other roles within the company to get a promotion, and there are caps for the salary increase you can get in a promotion.
Nordstrom has a systemic issue with inconsistency in
Loss Prevention Investigator in San Francisco:
Pros: Trust in my ability and freedom to make the program better
Cons: Consolidations. No more room for me to grow
Temporary.
Sales Associate in Simpsonville:
Pros: My job at Nordstrom is great for a temporary job throughout the summer. I am looking to earn more money and I don't believe they will be increasing my pay if I don't move up in management, which I don't necessarily want to. do in this company. I would love to work at a full-line Nordstrom or work or the corporate office for Nordstrom if I had the opportunity.
Cons: I wish I got paid more at Nordstrom. I am supporting myself throughout college and I wish I could have more flexibility in that department.
A creative job.
Sales Associate in Dallas:
Pros: Making a difference in my clients lives after I have given them what they were looking for.
Cons: Pay.
Good Career Growth.
Fashion Designer in Seattle:
Pros: Openness to change in processes
Cons: The politics, inconsistent on boarding experiences within different teams/roles.
