Old Dominion University Reviews

What is it like working at Old Dominion University?

Working in this capacity is great with the exception of the pay.
Administrative / Office Manager in Norfolk:
Pros: That I am both efficient and effective at my job.
Cons: The salary.
Transportation Planner in Virginia Beach:
Working at ODU can be a vastly different experience depending on which department/office you work for. Leadership is often focused on bending over backward for students while ignoring the well-being of employees. Several people this year have left for better-paying positions elsewhere due to low wages at ODU, or for a promotion available at another University. ODU is in a transitional period where many older employees who stayed employed during the recession are now finally retiring and opening the door for younger more progressive individuals to come in and change the "we've always done it that way" mentality. Better pay and benefits should be looked into (matching student loan payments, living wages, regular cost of living pay increases, as well as pay increases for entry-level and employees with less than 5 years to help with employee retention.
This job is very rewarding.
Accounts Payable Supervisor in Norfolk:
Pros: The staff is friendly and helpful to new employees
Cons: I do not have any dislikes about this job
Office Manager in Norfolk:
Working at Old Dominion University is good but it could be better if Old Dominion University take a look at the people who are in director”s positions. I say this because when I worked in the office of Financial Aid I experienced work place bullying. And now working in the leader ship and student involvement office I am now experiencing workplace bullying from my boss. I have been employed there for 10 years now and nothing has changed.
