Penske Truck Leasing LLC Reviews
What is it like working at Penske Truck Leasing LLC?
Hiker position, no freight.
Heavy / Tractor-Trailer Truck Driver in Los Angeles:
Pros: Very easy and a training opportunity, very flexible schedule
Cons: Rental associates will do your work, cutting available hours, and overtime is often regulated strictly while mechanics are paid more than your overtime rate to do the same work at greater cost to Penske due to the delays in machine shop work. Customers are offered a $500 incentive to prevent giving us overtime hours. There aren't enough hours in a day to pay us that much at our current rate; which is lower than Central Freight offered me fresh out of school. If I didn't work for a salary at a private school, I wouldn't be doing this job at all. But the flexibility makes me thankful for it when I am earning the school salary to complement this low pay.
It was a great place to retire but maybe not so much anymore.
Diesel Technician in Chino:
Pros: There's a lot to learn from a lot of people
Cons: Favoritism is insane. People will be promoted based on favoritism alone and not upon skill base. The yard I'm currently at has been on mandatory over time for the past 6 months because they refuse to hire more people. We have the oldest equipment compared to other locations and we are treated like trash and forgotten about.
Maintenance Management role.
Maintenance Supervisor in Arlington:
Pros: Penske offers fair benefits compared to market average.
Cons: Managing my involvement vs managing by metrics becomes blended all to often. This is a "get it done company" which is fine and understandable. When there is an issue and the solution effects P&L you get almost no assistance.
Stand on a dollar to save a penny.
Diesel Mechanic in Boise:
Pros: Good for an entry level job
Cons: Management is disconnected from the service department largely because they do not hire management that has done the job
