What is it like working at Southern Utah University?
Easy Peasy.
Boiler Operator in Cedar City:
Pros: Very little stress. You can go home and leave work at work. Very flexible schedule.
Cons: The Pay is lower than expected. Can be really slow.
Trends in higher education imply institutions will need to place considerable value on retention.
Academic Counselor in Cedar City:
Pros: Working with our student population who is most at risk is off considerable value to myself and my employer. It is rewarding and our programs and initiatives are highly supported.
Cons: The salary is sufficient for an entry level job in higher education, but low for an experienced educator taking on significant mentoring roles requiring a depth of knowledge beyond the scope of an entry level position. Therefore the pay is low, although the compensation including totino benefit for self, spouse, and dependents. The medical and retirement benefits are also excellent.
